Beaches of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island surrounded by the ocean. It has some of the most stunning beaches around. Below we describe some of the most exciting of them.

Bentota Beach

1st beach of the downsouth we can see in Sri lanka. Its located in Galle district of southern province. Less than 1 & half hour south of Bandaranayeka International Airport, the charming town of Bentota is a Sri Lankan tourist hotspot. This is thanks largely to its 8 km long stretch of golden sand bordering gentle blue waters. Less populated with adjacent bars and hotels than other seaside town beaches, Bentota Beach is peaceful and due to its size, you can be assured a generous space all to yourself.

Hikkaduwa Beach

Hikkaduwa beach also known as Hikka can see in Galle District. At here tourists can do snorkelling, surfing, swimming and glass boat ride to see the sea coral. Sri Lankan food, spas and cultural landmarks dotting its landscape, the beach town of Hikkaduwa has a ton to offer. A simple two-hour drive down from the capital of Colombo, Hikkaduwa is the perfect spot for both relaxation or recreation.

Unawatuna Beach

        Full of visitors year round, the beaches of Unawatuna in Galle are truly unforgettable. A yellow sanded, moon shaped curve of turquoise coastline, Unawatuna Beach is a picture perfect destination. Small shops and great eateries can be found in the small town behind the beach.

Weligama & Midigama Beach

Weligama & Midigama beachs are vaey famous for their beautiful beaches and excellent surf. The Weligama beach has the best waves for surf and so many surfing schools for beginers. Midigama is quieter and less developed than its neighbour Weligama, but both offer a great chance to unwind, splash in the Indian Ocean or go for a wander. This area famous for its famous stick fishermen (stilt fishing).

Polhena Beach

This is a very popular beach among the locals on weekends. Foreigners are hardly seen here. There is good snorkeling in the bay, and although the visibility is not great, the turtles are frequent here.

Tangalle Beach

   Described by many visitors as one of the most perfect beaches in Sri Lanka, Tangalle is another destination that can be added to your down south itinerrary. It's easy to find ways to spend your time here. Swim, play beach games, soak in the sun, fishimg or surf the beach. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby, 

Panama, Arugambay & Potuvil Point beaches

These beaches we can see on eastern side of Sri Lanka. Very famous among the surfers Who can surf on big waves. Arugambay is one of most popular tourists attraction area on its season. But the season of Arugambay is only 3 months.

Pasikudah, Kalladi & Kalkudah beaches

Marble & Nilaweli beaches
