World Heritage Cave Temple
The Dambulu Rock is an ancient Buddhist monastery in Sri Lanka which is 600m high from the plains. Five separate caves contain over 150 magnificent Buddha statues and paintings, which are some of the most significant and creative religious art in Sri Lanka.
These caves are found after climbing about 350 feet in the Dambulla rock. Some of these caves have been designed by humans, and there are also natural caves. They are made of natural caves and man-made caves that are too difficult to distinguish. Buddha images were first created here over 2000 years ago.
