With so many natural resources in Sri Lanka, many tourists come here to spend their vacations.
Amoung the Most countries in the world, Sri Lanka is known for their tea and gems. This country is known as Ratna-Dwipa throughout the history of Sri Lanka. This Sinhala name connotes the meaning “The Island of Gemstone”. Local and foreign chronicles and ancient records attest to this name (Land od gemstone).

200 minerals in Sri Lanka are classified as gemstones. A mineral that must meet their beauty, durability, rarity, and a combination of these qualities is worthy of being classified as a gemstone.
The main gems found in Sri Lanka are Blue sapphire (Queen elizabeth also weared a ring by made with Sri Lankan blue sapphire. Now it wears by Princess Kate, Prince William's wife.) , ruby, paparadsa, yellow sapphire, asterisk sapphire (azure), alexandrite, spinel, tourmaline, beryl, quartz, moonstone.
